What can we sniff out for you?

Whether you are searching in the floodplains, fields, or forests, our dogs love to sniff out these semi-terrestrial river turtles.

Spotted Turtles

We love a good vernal pool. Not only can dogs locate turtles within these shallow wetlands, but they can alert you to hibernaculi, aestivation sites, and nests.

Blanding's Turtles

In collaboration with North Country Canine, we are training our dogs and a client's dog on this large turtle species. We will offer surveys for Blanding's Turtles starting in 2026.

Box turtles are fully terrestrial, but that doesn't make them easy to see. Dogs can locate these turtles under brush, in thick herbaceous vegetation, in their nightly forms, and even in hibernaculi.

Eastern Spadefoots

They're not technically a toad but they are New England's most endangered amphibian. Our dogs can help you pinpoint the locations of spadefoot burrows.
